Free Non-Alcoholic Cocktail and Sexual Health Testing Among New Measures
The Ajuntament de Girona has announced a series of health and wellbeing initiatives for the upcoming Fires de Sant Narcís, which run from 23 October to 1 November 2026. Key new measures include the launch of a free non-alcoholic cocktail called Siset 0,0, available at all festival bars, and the introduction of Espai Cuida’t, a sexual health point offering rapid, self-managed testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as chlamydia and gonorrhoea. The Espai Cuida’t, set up in collaboration with the Associació de Drets Sexuals i Reproductius, will operate on Friday 31 October from 5pm to 8pm at the Fira d'Entitats on Carrer Berenguer i Carnicer. It forms part of the ITSReady research project, funded by La Marató de 3Cat and coordinated by CEEISCAT, targeting young people aged 16 to 25.
“We want the festival to reach all children and young people in the city, from nursery to secondary school,” said Quim Ayats, councillor for Culture.
Targeted Outreach to Youth and Festival Workers
Around 5,000 secondary school students aged 12 to 16 will receive a festival wristband and a booklet outlining health and safety measures during the celebrations. The materials aim to engage young people in the festivities while promoting responsible behaviour. Festival bar staff received training on 8 October to promote responsible alcohol service and prevent gender-based and LGBT-phobic violence. During the session, they were introduced to the Siset 0,0 cocktail, a mix of apple juice, lemon juice, apple pie syrup, ginger syrup and soda, as a festive, alcohol-free alternative. The drink, developed with the Escola d’Hostaleria de Girona and Mooma, will see 200 litres of pre-mixed concentrate distributed, enabling approximately 2,000 servings across the festival’s bars.
“These services respond to real needs and reflect our commitment to a city that promotes health and care for people,” said Gemma Martínez Villagrasa, councillor for a Caring City.
Additional Support Spaces and Awareness Campaigns
The Punt de Salut Jove will operate on festival nights from 23 to 31 October at the Copa esplanade, in partnership with Creu Roja Joventut’s Som.NIT project. It will provide youth-focused information on health, substance use and sexuality, along with preventive materials and direct counselling. Three ‘Espai Calma’ (Calm Space) zones will be available for those needing sensory relief: at CaixaFòrum Girona on 24 and 26 October, at Palau Firal from 29 October to 2 November during the trade fair, and at the giant parade on 2 November, where a quiet section will be designated on Carrer Migdia. A digital awareness campaign will also launch on Instagram in collaboration with local influencers Shalana and Koko, promoting the Centre Jove de Salut de Girona as a key resource for young people. Free drinking water will continue to be available at festival bars for those bringing their own cup, reinforcing ongoing efforts to ensure safe and inclusive celebrations.
