Festival-goers travelling back to Barcelona after late screenings in Sitges will be able to use a special 01:30 train to Barcelona Sants from the night of Thursday 8 October until the night of Sunday 18 October. Renfe's Tren Fantàstic announcement says the service will run non-stop and will accept all valid Rodalies de Catalunya tickets, so passengers will not need a separate festival rail ticket.

The service is scheduled for the 59th Sitges - Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya, which will take place from 8 to 18 October 2026. The final special departure will run in the early hours of Monday 19 October.

Night service will leave Sitges at 01:30

The Tren Fantàstic will depart Sitges at 01:30 each night during the stated period and travel directly to Barcelona Sants without intermediate stops. It is intended to provide a return journey after the festival's late-night screenings and activities.

  • Festival dates: Thursday 8 to Sunday 18 October 2026.
  • Special train period: from the early hours of Friday 9 October to the early hours of Monday 19 October.
  • Departure: Sitges at 01:30.
  • Destination: Barcelona Sants, with no stops on the way.
  • Ticketing: any valid Rodalies de Catalunya travel ticket.
Passengers will not need a specific ticket for the special service, as valid Rodalies de Catalunya tickets will be accepted.

Regular R2 Sud trains will also serve Sitges

Passengers travelling to Sitges can also use the regular R2 Sud line of Rodalies de Catalunya, the Catalan commuter rail network. The line runs between Barcelona Estació de França and Sant Vicenç de Calders via Vilanova i la Geltrú.

Festival attendees using Renfe services, including AVE and long-distance trains, can receive a 10% discount on their journey when they have bought a festival ticket.

Passengers can check the special service through Rodalies station staff, ticket machines, station information screens and the Rodalies app. For travel information, call Rodalies de Catalunya on 900 41 00 41 or consult the Rodalies timetables page before travelling.
