Increased Frequency on C1 Line
From 1 October, the interurban bus line C1 connecting Sabadell and Castellar del Vallès will operate with increased frequency during peak hours. The service, running Monday to Friday, will see headways reduced from every 10 minutes to every 8 minutes in both directions during rush periods. Inbound services towards Sabadell will benefit from the improved frequency between 7:00 and 9:48 in the morning, and again from 14:00 to 19:36 in the evening. These extended peak-hour windows replace the previous schedule, which ended at 9:00 and 19:00 respectively.
More Buses, More Trips
Under the changes confirmed by the Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, the number of daily trips on the C1 line will rise from 178 to 206, an increase of 28 services per day, or 14 additional trips in each direction. This brings the total number of daily departures to 103 per direction.
The increased frequency is like having a metro service for Castellar.
Yolanda Rivera, mayor of Castellar del Vallès, welcomed the upgrade, noting that high demand during peak times had previously left passengers unable to board due to overcrowding. She said the improvements respond directly to municipal requests and effectively make the C1 “like a metro service for Castellar”.
New Vehicle and Route Adjustments
The enhanced service includes the addition of a new bus to the fleet and operational adjustments to improve reliability. Some journeys starting from Sabadell’s main bus station will now terminate at Plaça Espanya (Sabadell Nord), where connections are available with Renfe and FGC commuter rail services. Inbound services from Castellar will alternate between originating at the main bus station and Plaça Espanya, ensuring consistent eight-minute intervals from both points during peak times. The line is operated by Moventis under the authority of the Catalan government and serves around 5,000 daily trips between the two municipalities.
€154,000 Annual Investment
The Generalitat will invest €153,195.25 annually to fund the expansion, part of its second Interurban Bus Shock Plan aimed at improving high-demand routes across Catalonia.
