Train Services Resumed After Red Weather Alert
Renfe has restored the R16 Rodalies line, regional medium-distance services between Valencia and Catalonia, and long-distance Euromed and Intercity trains as of 15:30 on Friday 2 October 2026. The restoration follows a red weather alert issued by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) that had forced the suspension of rail operations across the Valencian Community. The decision to resume services was confirmed by Renfe in its latest update, with both Euromed and Intercity trains restarting from 15:00. Medium-distance routes linking Valencia with destinations in Catalonia are now operating normally.
Affected Lines Now Running
All Cercanías lines serving Valencia have returned to regular schedules. This includes:
- C1: Valencia–Gandia
- C2: Valencia–Xàtiva–Moixent
- C3: Valencia–Buñol–Utiel
- C6: Valencia–Castelló
Additionally, regional medium-distance services such as Castelló–Vinaròs, Albacete–Valencia, and Tortosa–Valencia Nord are back in operation. Long-distance connections including Euromed and Intercity services along the Mediterranean Corridor, which link the Valencian Community with Barcelona Sants and Figueres Vilafant, have also resumed.
Replacement Road Transport Previously Provided
During the suspension, Renfe implemented replacement bus services for three key medium-distance routes:
- València Nord–Alacant (departing 15:25)
- València Nord–Cartagena (departing 16:28)
- Saragossa–València Nord (departing 17:25)
These were coordinated to maintain connectivity amid unsafe rail conditions caused by severe rainfall and flooding risks.
Passenger Support Measures
Free changes and refunds remain available for all passengers affected by the cancellations. Renfe advises travellers to consult official channels before departure to confirm service status, particularly given ongoing weather monitoring in eastern Spain.
Passengers are recommended to check station announcements, call customer service at 900 41 00 41 or 912 320 320, or follow @inforenfe on X for real-time updates.
This restoration marks the full recovery of rail transport in the region following extreme weather conditions that prompted Protecció Civil to issue confinement alerts for over 157,000 residents in southern Tarragona earlier in the week.
