€837,000 Allocated for 2027 Economic Support

The Diputació de Girona will dedicate €837,000 during 2027 to fund subsidies aimed at stimulating the local economy in the province’s municipalities. The funding will be distributed through nine distinct aid lines designed to promote economic planning, commercial activity, proximity trade, and technological innovation. These subsidies will be available to town councils, county councils, market associations, and non-profit entities across the Girona region. The official announcement was made on Friday at the annual meeting of the Local Economic Promotion Services Network (XSLPE), held at the Diputació’s headquarters.

Support for Rural and Tech-Driven Initiatives

Specific aid lines target rural municipalities, including support for local economic promotion projects in towns with fewer than 500 residents, where subsidies may cover up to 100% of costs, and funding for smart parcel lockers in towns under 3,000 inhabitants. New for 2027, the Diputació has introduced subsidies for digital technology promotion and initiatives that enhance the visibility of the tech sector. Additional funding will support events and activities linked to local economic development.

Collaborative Network to Drive Growth

The XSLPE, which brings together around 50 local entities, serves as a permanent platform for collaboration among local administrations. The annual gathering this year included around 70 technical staff from across the province, focusing on knowledge exchange and the application of artificial intelligence in economic planning. This year’s funding builds on previous support: in 2026, the Diputació allocated over €656,000 to similar initiatives, including façade restoration projects that highlight industrial heritage and digitalisation efforts in local commerce. Applications for the 2027 subsidies will open at the beginning of the year. Municipalities and eligible organisations are encouraged to prepare proposals aligned with the aid criteria published by the Diputació.
