Halloween Parade and Cultural Events Set for October
Tarragona will host a series of events to celebrate All Saints’ Day, combining cultural heritage, gastronomy and family entertainment across two weekends in October. The festivities, coordinated by the city’s Tourism, Commerce and Markets department, begin on Saturday 23 October and run through to 2 November.
“The activities combine heritage, tradition, gastronomy and family entertainment to reaffirm the cultural roots of this period and our territory,”
said councillor Montse Adan at the event’s presentation.
Adult-Focused Heritage Experience: 'Eating with the Dead'
Tarragona Turisme and Argos Tarragona are launching the 10th edition of the Tarrorífic cycle with a new event titled Menjant amb els morts (Eating with the Dead). The experience, aimed at adults, explores the origins and evolution of death-related celebrations from ancient Rome to modern-day Castanyada, including international traditions such as those in Mexico. Participants will attend an introductory presentation, a public lecture, and a tasting of panellets and sweet wine. The event will take place at Espai Turisme and the Antic Ajuntament (Old Town Hall). Sessions are scheduled for 23 and 30 October at 7pm and 8pm, with a maximum of 25 people per session. The activity will be offered in both Catalan and Spanish. Bookings open on 13 October via email at [email protected].
Family Day with Crafts, Theatre and Halloween Parade
On Saturday 24 October, the city’s Commerce department will host a festive day in Plaça Corsini and Tarragona’s markets. The morning includes craft workshops on Castanyada themes and free autumn-themed face painting at both Plaça Corsini and Mercat de Torreforta, running from 9:30am to 1:30pm. At 11am, a family-friendly children’s theatre performance will take place in Plaça Corsini. Meanwhile, the Central Market kitchen will host two panellet-making workshops for children aged 6 to 9, at 10:30am and 12:05pm. Each session has space for 12 participants and is run in collaboration with the Tarragona Bakers’ Guild. Bookings can be made via [email protected]. The day culminates in the third Halloween Parade at 7pm, starting and ending at Plaça Corsini and travelling along Rambla Nova to El Balcó. Around 80 artists will take part, including performance groups Batucada, Camaleón Conjunt, Camaleón Flamencs, Colours Fantasy, Disc 45 and the Creatics puppet group’s giant skeleton. After the parade, a DJ set in Plaça Corsini will extend the festive atmosphere into the evening.
Cemetery Opens Extended Hours for All Saints
The Tarragona Cemetery, managed by the Fundació Hospital Sant Pau i Santa Tecla, will extend its opening hours from 25 October to 1 November, remaining open continuously from 9am to 6pm. On 2 November, it will be open from 9am to 3pm. A second entrance via Camí del Llorito will be available from 30 October to 1 November (9am–6pm) and on 2 November (9am–2pm) to manage visitor flow. A QR code at the main entrance allows visitors to locate graves, and six electric wheelchairs are available upon request for those with reduced mobility. Visitors can also view progress on the new funeral home, expected to complete in spring 2026, via information panels around the site. A memory space for perinatal and neonatal grief, featuring a heart-shaped-leaved ‘tree of love’ and a memory book, is located in the newer section of the cemetery. A Rosary service will be held on 1 November at 4pm in the cemetery chapel, followed by a Solemn Mass on 2 November at 10am in Spanish.
