PP marks 12-O with civic toast

The Partit Popular (PP) of Sabadell held its fifth consecutive 12 October celebration, marking Spain's National Day with a public toast in the city. The event, organised by local party president Cuca Santos, brought together residents who identify as both Catalan and Spanish. Santos reaffirmed that these dual identities are not in conflict but complementary. "We believe belonging to Catalonia and to Spain are compatible and enriching for one another," she said, noting the growing tradition of the gathering.

Support for Ceuta highlighted

During the event, the PP displayed the flag of the autonomous city of Ceuta, underscoring its solidarity with the North African enclave. Santos stated that Ceuta’s residents currently need the strongest support from fellow Spaniards, calling for a return to normality after recent events affecting the city.

Call to vote on 29 November

Looking ahead to the upcoming general election on 29 November 2026, Santos urged full civic participation. "I call on all Sabadellencs: not one should be missing on the 29th. This is the only way change happens in a democracy – at the ballot box, not in the streets," she declared. The party framed the election as an opportunity to build bridges across societal divides, including between generations, workers and employers, and different national identities within the Spanish state.

Santos emphasized the need to move beyond division and work towards unity, positioning the PP as a force for cohesion in the run-up to the vote.
