Regional police, the Mossos d'Esquadra, are investigating a suspected food poisoning incident at a restaurant in La Seu d’Urgell after five young women were treated at Fundació Sant Hospital on Friday night. The group had eaten pizza at the same establishment shortly before falling ill, coinciding with the start of the town’s annual festival.
Medical tests have revealed signs consistent with the ingestion of a psychoactive substance, though the exact cause remains under investigation. A sixth person is believed to have experienced milder symptoms but has not yet filed a formal complaint, according to reports from the Agència Catalana de Notícies (ACN).
The restaurant remains closed as a precaution while authorities conduct their inquiry.
