High-speed pursuit ends in N-145 crash
Early on Sunday morning, 30 August 2026, regional police forces intercepted three stolen luxury vehicles on the N-145 road in La Seu d’Urgell after a high-speed pursuit from Andorra. The operation followed the theft of four high-end cars from a repair workshop in the Comella industrial estate of Andorra la Vella. Shortly before 5:45am, a police patrol detected the stolen vehicles travelling at high speed towards Catalonia, endangering other road users. A control point was quickly established using officers already deployed in the area for the town’s annual festival. The first suspect ignored police signals to stop and rammed a patrol car before fleeing on foot. No officers were injured in the collision, but the stolen vehicle sustained significant damage.
The first of the vehicles was located around 5:45am in a risky operation because the driver ignored police warnings and hit a patrol car.
Two arrests, fourth car found in Badalona
The drivers of the second and third stolen cars attempted to bypass the police cordon but were both stopped and arrested at the scene. Both suspects are believed to be from Eastern Europe. The fourth stolen vehicle was discovered later that morning, abandoned in a street in Badalona, in the Barcelona metropolitan area. It was undamaged and unoccupied. Of the four high-end vehicles, valued collectively at nearly €600,000, three were recovered in good condition. Only the car involved in the collision with police showed major damage.
The owner of the workshop filed a complaint with both the Mossos d’Esquadra and Andorran police, reporting the theft of four vehicles.
The investigation remains open, with the Mossos examining the criminal network behind the theft and determining whether others are involved. Andorran authorities have confirmed they are judicialising the case and cooperating closely with Catalan police through INTERPOL channels.
