Home sales in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and Baix Llobregat fell by 8.1% in the first quarter of 2026 compared with October to December 2025, according to the latest economic report by the Fòrum Empresarial del Llobregat, a local business forum.

The 3,091 recorded transactions were 994 fewer than in the previous quarter and ended an eight-quarter run of growth. For prospective buyers and sellers in L’Hospitalet and across Baix Llobregat, the figures point to a marked reduction in completed sales after two years of comparatively high activity.

The forum said the market had previously been recording about 3,900 to 4,000 transactions per quarter. It linked the slowdown to limited homes for sale, higher house prices, still-high interest rates and stricter access to credit.

Largest quarterly falls were in L’Hospitalet and Esplugues

L’Hospitalet recorded the largest absolute reduction, with 212 fewer sales in January to March than in the final three months of 2025. Esplugues de Llobregat followed with 191 fewer transactions.

  • Viladecans recorded 111 fewer sales.
  • Cornellà recorded 91 fewer sales.
  • Sant Joan Despí was among the exceptions, recording 39 more transactions.
  • Sant Just Desvern recorded nine more sales and Sant Feliu de Llobregat seven more.
  • Sant Vicenç dels Horts and Castellví de Rosanes each recorded four more sales, while Abrera recorded two more.

Only those six municipalities increased their number of transactions in the opening quarter of 2026, the forum’s report found.

Households with lower savings face tougher access to ownership

The Fòrum Empresarial del Llobregat said buying a home is becoming harder for households with lower incomes and savings, as the limited supply of properties for sale continues to put pressure on prices and borrowing conditions remain demanding.
