Junts per Igualada would remain the largest party in Igualada’s 2027 municipal elections, but with an estimated 28% to 33% of votes and seven to eight councillors, according to a new municipal barometer published by Igualada News.

For residents, the projection points to a more fragmented 21-seat Ajuntament, or town council, with several seats potentially decided by small changes in support. ARA Igualada, a local left-wing alliance bringing together the former Poble Actiu, Comuns and other local groups, is projected to compete with the PSC, the local socialist party, for second place.

ARA projected to grow as ERC and Vox face tight contests

The barometer places ARA Igualada at 18% to 23%, equivalent to four or five councillors. It estimates that about one third of voters who backed ERC, the republican party, at the previous municipal election could now choose ARA.

  • PSC: 16.5% to 20.5%, or four to five councillors.
  • ERC: 7.5% to 10.5%, or one to two councillors.
  • Aliança Catalana: 10% to 13.5%, or two to three councillors, after not standing in the last municipal election in Igualada.
  • Vox: 4% to 6%, placing it around the 5% threshold required to take part in the allocation of council seats.
  • PP: 1.5% to 3.5%, below the threshold for representation in the projection.

The report identifies movement from Junts towards Aliança Catalana as its main projected voter transfer. It estimates Junts could retain roughly eight in ten of its previous municipal voters.

515 voluntary responses adjusted for local data

Igualada News says the barometer is based on 515 responses from city residents collected through a voluntary online form. It says the exercise is not a conventional opinion poll because participants were not selected randomly.

The publication adjusted the responses to reflect Igualada’s age profile and corrected recalled voting to match official municipal results. It also compared the detected voting movements with recent municipal, Catalan and Spanish election results.

The projected ranges are not a conventional statistical margin of error, Igualada News says. They are intended to show possible trends and voter transfers before the 2027 election, rather than predict a final result.
