The Ajuntament de Cunit, the town council, has renewed its request for the Generalitat de Catalunya, Catalonia’s regional government, to install shelters at two C-31 bus stops used by passengers travelling towards Barcelona. For Cunit residents who use interurban buses, the proposed work would provide cover from rain, sun and high temperatures while waiting.
The council has sent the request to the Generalitat’s Directorate-General for Transport and Mobility. It concerns the stop outside the La Ponderosa building and the stop outside La Caixa, at the corner of Carrer de les Sorres, both in the Barcelona-bound direction.
According to the Ajuntament de Cunit’s official announcement, the council had made the same request previously after receiving residents’ demands. It says neither location currently has an adequately protected waiting area.
Mayor Jaume Casañas has submitted the request in the hope that the Directorate-General will approve it and that the two administrations can improve the quality and accessibility of public transport in Cunit. The council announcement does not set out a Generalitat decision or a timetable for the work.
