Service Suspension and Replacement Buses
From 11 to 23 August, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGC) will suspend train services between Gràcia and Sarrià stations on the Barcelona-Vallès line due to track renewal works. The closure affects lines L6, S1 and S2. To maintain connectivity, FGC will operate a replacement bus service linking Gràcia, Sant Gervasi, Muntaner, La Bonanova, Les Tres Torres and Sarrià.
The intervention will allow the installation of a new concrete slab track replacing the current ballast-based track, improving service resilience and reducing maintenance costs.
Modified Timetables on Other Sections
Trains on lines S1 and S2 operating between Sarrià and the Vallès region will run on their usual schedules. However, services between Gràcia and Plaça Catalunya will operate with adjusted timetables, running at a maximum frequency of 18 trains per hour in each direction. Lines L7 and L12 will maintain their regular timetables throughout the period.
Broader Works Programme
This phase is part of the ongoing track renewal project between Plaça Catalunya and Sarrià. Works began in May during night hours and have already been completed on the section between Sarrià, Les Tres Torres, La Bonanova and Muntaner. The current work includes upgrading the diagonal tracks between Muntaner and La Bonanova. Additionally, between 4 and 30 August, road traffic on Via Augusta will face partial lane closures, narrowed carriageways and temporary bike lane diversions between Carrer Madrazo and Carrer Ganduxer due to associated infrastructure improvements.
Prior Works on Llobregat-Anoia Line
The Gràcia-Sarrià closure follows the completion of a week-long shutdown on the Llobregat-Anoia line between Sant Vicenç | Castellgalí and Manresa Baixador from 1 to 7 August. During that period, FGC renewed 400 metres of track inside the Santa Clara tunnel near Manresa-Viladordis, replacing ballast track with concrete slab track to improve stability, drainage and prevent water infiltration. A replacement road service was provided. The normal timetable resumed on Saturday, 9 August.
Funicular de Vallvidrera Closed for Annual Maintenance
Separately, FGC began annual maintenance on the Funicular de Vallvidrera on 5 August. The service will remain closed until 28 August, with a replacement road service in operation.
