DOMUM Sindicat Social has referred alleged deficiencies in changing rooms, sanitary facilities and the meal area used by Adecco Outsourcing SAU staff at Nestlé's workplace in Sant Gregori, Girona, to the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate. For the subcontracted workers who carry out their jobs exclusively at the site, the complaint seeks an official inspection that could require corrective measures if the conditions are confirmed.

The union's Adecco section says it first formally asked Adecco and Nestlé to remedy the problems. It says workers' representatives requested the Inspectorate's intervention after receiving no effective response.

Union alleges deteriorated facilities and inadequate cleaning

According to DOMUM, the changing room is too small for its users, lockers are deteriorated and rusted, and there are too few benches. The union also alleges shortcomings in shower cleaning, including the reported presence of insects.

The complaint also says regular cleaning of the meal area and sanitary facilities is not ensured at weekends, when the site is operating. DOMUM says Adecco staff do not normally have access to the changing rooms, toilets and dining areas used by Nestlé's directly employed workforce.

Inspection requested to establish responsibilities

DOMUM says Adecco, as the employer, and Nestlé, as the company responsible for the workplace where the service is provided, should coordinate action to ensure suitable conditions of hygiene, health, safety and dignity.

The union has asked for facilities to match the actual number of users, including:

  • individual lockers in sufficient numbers and in good condition;
  • separate storage for work clothes and street clothes where required;
  • regular cleaning of showers, toilets and the meal area on every day the site is active.

DOMUM says it will continue monitoring the case and remains open to dialogue with Adecco and Nestlé, while seeking verifiable measures and a timetable for action. The Inspectorate has been asked to assess the conditions and determine any responsibilities and measures that may apply.
