The Generalitat has put the construction of the Olot and Les Preses bypass out to tender for €447.2 million. Residents and drivers using the C-152 through the two towns could see through-traffic diverted once the scheme is completed, with work scheduled to start in spring 2027.
The planned 55-month construction period is about four and a half years. The project is intended to complete the Vic–Olot route via Bracons and remove traffic from the urban sections crossed by the existing C-152.
Traffic reductions projected on existing urban roads
According to the Generalitat's 28 March project announcement, the new road is expected to cut traffic in Les Preses by between 60% and 90%, depending on the section. Traffic on Avinguda de Sant Jordi in Olot is projected to fall by about 30%.

“It will mean a very significant transformation for Olot and Les Preses, but also for the whole comarca, and will improve the road network and connectivity of La Garrotxa,” President Salvador Illa said when the project was presented in Olot in March.
Approved design includes underground sections
The Generalitat had definitively approved the construction project after public consultation and consideration of submissions, according to the Diputació de Girona's 28 March notice. That notice described an estimated investment of €447 million.
The Generalitat said 40% of the works would be underground. Its March announcement described the bypass as an intervention intended to improve local and county-wide mobility, road safety and residents' quality of life by taking passing traffic out of urban areas.
