Seven Concerts at Home, Tours Across Catalonia
The Orquestra Simfònica Sant Cugat has unveiled its 2026–27 season, with seven concerts scheduled at the Teatre-Auditori Emma Vilarasau in Sant Cugat. The programme includes performances of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and Sibelius’s Second, alongside tributes to Catalan cellist Pau Casals on the 150th anniversary of his birth. A highlight will be the 16 October concert with the Claret brothers, violinist Gerard Claret and cellist Lluís Claret, marking 50 years of their musical partnership. The orchestra will also perform Ravel’s Boléro on 21 May 2027 and the traditional Christmas Valsos i Danses de Nadal on 27 December 2026 at 7pm.
This year honours both Beethoven’s 200th anniversary since his death and Pau Casals’ 150th birth anniversary, making it a deeply symbolic season.
Concerts Beyond Sant Cugat
The orchestra will tour across the Catalan-speaking regions, beginning with a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in Palma on 3 October 2026, dedicated to soprano Conxita Badia. Other tour stops include Manresa, Vilassar de Dalt, Tordera, Barcelona, Cornellà de Llobregat, Reus, Esparreguera, Montcada i Reixac, Sant Celoni and Esplugues. Concerts at the Teatre-Auditori Emma Vilarasau will feature guest soloists including pianist Maria Canyigueral (19 March 2027), flautist Patricia de No (20 November 2026), and contrabassist Blai Gumí in Stravinsky’s L’Ocell de Foc (19 February 2027).
The season closes with the annual Sant Jordi Concert on 23 April 2027, featuring Russian pianist Fedor Veselov under the baton of music director Salvador Brotons.
