Three New Locations Add Over 1,800 Square Metres

Decathlon has opened two of its new 'City' format stores in Barcelona and Cornellà de Llobregat, with a third due to open in September. Decathlon City Consell de Cent in L’Eixample and Decathlon City Splau at the Splau shopping centre in Cornellà opened in August 2026. Decathlon City Sants, located on carrer de Sants, will open the following month. The three new locations together add more than 1,800 square metres of retail space and create over 40 new jobs. This brings Decathlon’s total to 20 stores in the province of Barcelona and 30 across Catalonia.

Urban-Focused Format with Digital and Circular Services

The new stores follow Decathlon’s updated 'City' concept, designed for urban areas. They feature digital enhancements such as electronic shelf labels and improved customer experience. Each offers in-store pickup within one hour of ordering.

"With this format City we offer a closer, faster and more personalised experience," said José Manuel García, Decathlon’s Barcelona zone director.

The stores include circular service areas offering repair workshops, rental options, and the 'Segunda Vida' second-hand sports equipment programme to extend product lifespans.

Localised Offerings and National Expansion

Each store tailors its product range to local sporting needs. The Cornellà location was selected due to its proximity to sports facilities and green spaces such as Parc de Can Mercader. These openings are part of a broader national expansion, with Decathlon launching 10 new stores across Spain in the first half of 2026. Shoppers can visit Decathlon City Consell de Cent in Barcelona’s L’Eixample district, Decathlon City Splau at the Splau shopping centre in Cornellà de Llobregat, or await the September opening of Decathlon City Sants.
