Valls City Council is offering local residents a unique opportunity to view the Santa Úrsula human towers (castells) performance from the balconies of the Casa de la Vila. This initiative, which began in 2019, allows people to experience the event from a prime location in Plaça del Blat, known as the 'kilometre zero' of the casteller world.

Registration for the ballot to attend the Santa Úrsula event, scheduled for midday on Sunday, 26 October, opens on 29 September. The ballot will award six double invitations, according to Valls officials.

How to Enter the Ballot

Adults registered as residents in Valls can enter the ballot. However, winners from the two most recent casteller performances, Firagost and Catalonia's National Day, are not eligible. This rule aims to give more residents a chance to see a casteller performance from the City Hall.

The registration period starts at 9am on Monday, 29 September, and closes on Tuesday, 21 October. Residents can register online via the municipal portal participa.valls.cat. Alternatively, they can sign up in person at the Citizen Attention Office (OAC) at the City Hall. The OAC is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm to 7:30pm.

Ballot Details and Winner Notification

The ballot draw will take place on Tuesday, 21 October. Winners will be announced through various channels, including the Valls City Council website (www.valls.cat), municipal social media platforms, and local news outlets. Successful entrants will also receive a phone call notification, officials said.

This ongoing programme reflects the City Council's commitment to involving residents in major cultural events. The Santa Úrsula Diada is a significant date in the casteller calendar, drawing large crowds to Valls, a town with a deep-rooted human towers tradition.
