Overnight storms from Thursday 1 to Friday 2 October brought more than 200 litres of rain per square metre to several parts of Terres de l'Ebre, according to data from Meteocat, Catalonia's weather service. Residents in Mas de Barberans, Santa Bàrbara and les Cases d'Alcanar experienced the heaviest measured rainfall during the 10-hour period.

Mas de Barberans, in the Montsià comarca, recorded 226 litres per square metre between 22:00 and 09:00. Santa Bàrbara recorded 210 litres over the same period, while les Cases d'Alcanar received 203.4 litres from the evening through to Friday morning.
Heaviest rainfall concentrated in Montsià and Baix Ebre
At les Cases d'Alcanar, 101 litres fell between 06:30 and 07:30 alone. The municipality exceeded 40 litres in 30 minutes on three occasions during the early hours of Friday.
- Mas de Barberans: 226 litres per square metre in 10 hours, including 64 litres between 06:00 and 07:00.
- Santa Bàrbara: 210 litres per square metre in 10 hours.
- Les Cases d'Alcanar: 203.4 litres per square metre, including 101 litres in one hour.
- El Perelló: 197.5 litres per square metre overnight.
Other high totals in Baix Ebre included 174 litres at l'Ametlla de Mar, 120.8 litres at l'Aldea and 96 litres at Aldover. Meteocat stations also measured 98.2 litres at Illa de Buda in the Ebro Delta, 88.7 litres at Ulldecona and 88.2 litres at Amposta.
The rain also reached Camp de Tarragona, where la Bisbal del Penedès recorded 69 litres per square metre. Blancafort recorded 57.8 litres from Thursday night, while Miami Platja and Vila-rodona received close to 50 litres each.
Previous heavy-rain episodes in the area
The rainfall total at Mas de Barberans was recorded over 10 hours. It should not be treated as a direct record comparison with longer storm episodes: in October 2025, Meteocat reported 280 litres per square metre there over a period running from Saturday to Monday morning.
In September 2023, Santa Bàrbara recorded 269 litres between midnight on Saturday and Sunday morning, according to data from the Xarxa d'Estacions Meteorològiques Automàtiques, Catalonia's network of automatic weather stations, and the Xarxa d'Observadors Meteorològics, its network of weather observers.
