A multi-agency police operation in La Seu d'Urgell, dubbed 'Kanpai', resulted in 222 people being identified and 14 reported for various offences. The operation, which took place on Friday afternoon and into Saturday morning, focused on combating repeat offending and preventing crimes related to weapons and drugs, according to the Mossos d'Esquadra.

Of those identified, 161 had previous police records. Three individuals among the 222 identified had accumulated up to 70 prior antecedents, officials said.

Details of the Operation

The joint effort involved officers from the Mossos d'Esquadra, Policia Nacional, Guàrdia Civil, and the local police force in La Seu d'Urgell, the capital of Alt Urgell. The 'Kanpai' operation aimed to enhance public safety and address specific concerns within the community.

The 14 administrative reports issued covered a range of infractions. Ten of these were for possession of narcotic substances, while two were for prohibited weapons. The remaining two reports were related to the ownership of dangerous dog breeds, according to police statements.

This type of coordinated police action is regularly deployed across Catalonia to address specific crime patterns and maintain order in urban centres. Authorities continue to monitor areas for repeat offenders and illegal activities.
