€2.5 Million for Local Culture in 2026

The Diputació de Tarragona has allocated €2.5 million in 2026 to fund 563 cultural proposals across the Camp de Tarragona, Terres de l’Ebre, and Baix Penedès regions. The funding aims to strengthen existing cultural programming and support new activities in fields including music, film, digital arts, and performing arts. These grants help bring culture closer to residents and sustain cultural vitality across the province. The support is part of the council’s broader effort to reinforce cultural development, social cohesion, and regional identity.

Key Festivals and Events Supported

Among the funded initiatives are the Altafulla-based Permanent Jazz Cycle Altafujazz 2026, the Suncine Calafell Environmental Film Festival, and the Àuria Festival of Singer-Songwriter Music in Montblanc. Other recipients include Valls’ Nits de Clàssics, the Digit 2026 micro-festival of digital arts and electronic music in Pratdip, and the M. del Carme Baget Amateur Theatre Competition in La Pobla de Mafumet. Also supported are the Escèniques 2026: Arts, Health and Community festival in Amposta and the Roquetes-based TOTEM Musical Theatre Festival.

Expanding Support to Private Sector

According to the council’s 15 April 2026 announcement, this year’s call for applications includes for-profit entities such as private companies, marking a shift to provide more balanced support to events in the private sector. The move follows a 15% increase in funding for strategic cultural events, as confirmed by Óscar Sánchez, the council’s deputy for Social and Cultural Promotion. The Diputació’s Strategic Network now includes 61 major festivals and cultural programmes across the region, organised by town councils, associations, and private enterprises. Nine new events joined the network in 2025, including the Festival Artèria Tortosa, Rihihiu, Escena Germinal, and Vertebra Dansa.

The 2026 cultural budget forms part of the council’s wider €237.5 million consolidated budget, approved to enhance collaboration with local authorities and boost social and cultural infrastructure.
