Amposta Town Hall is due to consider a €1.332 million budget amendment at its ordinary council meeting on Monday 27 July, a step the council says would allow the first work under its €25 million Pla de Barris i Viles neighbourhood regeneration project to begin.

For residents of Amposta, the proposal would start the municipal budget arrangements for the Generalitat de Catalunya programme, after the town became one of the first Catalan municipalities to secure funding. The amendment is linked to a loan operation already provided for in the municipal budget.

The Pla de Barris i Viles is a Generalitat programme for neighbourhood and town regeneration. Amposta’s project carries a total planned investment of €25 million, according to the Town Hall announcement.

Loans, procurement and financial controls on the agenda

The council will also debate a second budget amendment to provide funding for tenders for the municipal tow-truck service and sound equipment. The Town Hall said the measure forms part of work to regularise contracts in line with Spain’s Public Sector Contracts Law.

Councillors are also expected to approve an action plan arising from financial-control work, setting out internal administrative and management improvements for 2026.

The agenda includes the initial approval of amendment number 64 to Amposta’s POUM, the town’s Urban Development Master Plan. The change would reorganise facilities in the municipal sports zone and facilitate the future rollout of university Dentistry studies linked to the EUSES building.

The council is also due to ratify mayoral decrees authorising an administrative legal challenge before the High Court of Justice of Catalonia against a Generalitat resolution that lists Amposta among municipalities required to introduce a low-emission zone.

Festival programmes and motions

Councillors will consider final programmes for the Poble Nou del Delta festivities, scheduled for 29 July to 2 August, and Amposta’s main festival, scheduled for 7 to 16 August.

Three motions from municipal groups are also listed. Junts per Amposta will propose sentinel wristbands during festivities and shade canopies at the town’s children’s playgrounds. Esquerra d’Amposta will table a motion calling for the withdrawal of the proposed PLATER renewable-energy territorial plan and a new participation process involving local authorities.
