Train services have returned to normal on the Renfe line in Bages, central Catalonia, after almost three and a half months of disruptions and alternative transport arrangements. From Tuesday, trains on the R4 line are once again running their complete route from Manresa to Sant Vicenç de Calders.
The full timetable, as it was before the service alteration, is now in operation. This means no more speed restrictions due to safety works on the line, which had prevented a full service offering in recent weeks. Passengers no longer need to transfer at Terrassa, according to local newspaper Regió7.
Service Restored After Gelida Accident
The previous disruptions began at the end of January following an accident in Gelida. For weeks, the incident had led to significant changes in the R4 schedule and required passengers to use alternative transport options for parts of their journey. The full restoration of the line means that all previous frequencies and schedules are back in place, providing a smoother commute for residents.
Officials have worked to ensure the safety of the line, allowing for the complete return of services without limitations. The re-establishment of the full route is expected to significantly improve connectivity for towns along the R4 corridor.
