Fireworks show relocates due to Montjuïc works
The Piromusical de la Mercè 2026 will be held on Sunday 27 September at Bogatell beach in Barcelona, after the city council confirmed the event’s relocation from its traditional venue on Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina. The move is due to ongoing construction works at the Montjuïc fairground area, according to official statements from the Barcelona City Council. The fireworks display will begin at 22:00 and last approximately 30 minutes, ending around 22:30.
Oques Grasses to curate musical soundtrack
For the fourth consecutive year, a prominent musical act will curate the pyrotechnic show’s soundtrack. This year, Josep Montero, lead singer and creative force of Catalan rock band Oques Grasses, will select the music. His involvement marks a shift towards greater use of Catalan-language music, following public feedback on previous editions. Montero’s musical selection will be mixed by sound designer Marçal Cruz from studio Oido, while the fireworks choreography will be handled by Pirotècnia Igual, synchronised precisely to the music.
This year’s Piromusical reflects our commitment to local culture and language, with Oques Grasses bringing their unique energy to the closing act of La Mercè.
The decision to feature Oques Grasses coincides with the band’s farewell concerts at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, adding emotional weight to their participation.
How to watch the Piromusical
Residents and visitors are advised to head to Bogatell beach for optimal viewing. The area is accessible via public transport, with nearby metro stations including L4 (Bogatell and Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica). Ahead of the main event, the 27th International Fireworks Festival will also take place at the Moll de l’Espanya Industrial breakwater, featuring performances by different pyrotechnic teams.
