Oriol López Estatuet, representing Monistrol de Montserrat, has been named the new heir of Central Catalonia. His proclamation took place at the Comarcal Theatre in Solsona on Saturday, during an event that gathered representatives from across the region.
Aniol Torreblanca Ara, the heir from Sant Fruitós de Bages, was also recognised, being appointed as the second 'fadrí' (squire) of Central Catalonia, according to officials.
Twenty Candidates Competed
The newly proclaimed representatives were chosen from twenty candidates. These individuals participated in written and oral tests held at the Casal de Cultura i Joventut (Culture and Youth Centre) in Solsona. The jury assessed the aspirants' abilities before making their final announcement.
Other individuals honoured with the red sash included Núria Sáez Torres, the 'pubilla' (heiress) of Puig-reig, who was proclaimed the 'pubilla' of Central Catalonia. Jordi Casafont Gorchs, the heir of Puig-reig, was selected as the first 'fadrí'. Júlia Pallarès Masdepinós, the 'pubilla' of Solsona, was named a 'dama' (lady), and Meritxell Fígols Ferrer, the 'pubilla' of Valldan, was appointed as the second 'dama'.
During the ceremony, Albert Colell, president of the jury and Solsona's Councillor for Culture and Youth, encouraged the new representatives to promote popular culture and engage with local organisations.
