Manresa, in Central Catalonia, will host filming for Netflix’s new miniseries The Boys from Brazil throughout June. Local reports say the production is expected to start filming in the city this week, although official confirmation from the Manresa Film Office is still pending.
Filming signs, including parking restrictions, have already appeared outside the Congost pavilion. The schedule at that location runs from 3 to 10 June, and again from 22 to 30 June.
The series is based on Ira Levin’s 1976 novel, which was inspired by Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal. A 1978 film version starred Gregory Peck, Laurence Olivier and James Mason.
Peter Morgan, creator of The Crown, is adapting the story into a five-episode miniseries, with each episode lasting one hour. World Productions and Orchid Pictures are producing the series, and filming is taking place in locations across the United Kingdom, Germany, Bulgaria and Spain.
Morgan is also an executive producer, alongside Alex Gabassi, who will direct the series. The cast includes Jeremy Strong as Yakov Liebermann and Gillian Anderson as Frieda Steiner. Daniel Brühl, August Diehl, Shira Haas and Lizzy Caplan also feature in the main cast.
