Girona-Costa Brava Airport recorded 320,926 passengers in July 2026, a 1.9% decrease compared to 327,075 in the same month the previous year, according to data from Aena, the Spanish airport operator. This marks the fourth consecutive month of annual passenger declines since April.
Despite the drop in passenger numbers, flight activity increased. The airport handled 3,553 take-offs and landings in July, up 9% from 3,261 in July 2025. From January to July 2026, total operations exceeded 17,000, a 6.5% rise compared to the same period in 2025.
UK Remains Top Destination
The United Kingdom was the most popular destination for travellers from Girona Airport in July, with 99,462 passengers, an 8.7% increase from the previous year. Germany followed with 42,633 passengers, though this represented a 19.6% decline compared to July 2025. In contrast, traffic to Poland rose by 19%, exceeding 40,000 passengers.
Cargo and Regional Airport Trends
Cargo volumes showed strong growth, with 6.8 tonnes transported in July, a 67% increase from 4 tonnes in July 2025.
Elsewhere in Catalonia, Barcelona-El Prat Airport handled 5.87 million passengers in July 2026, a 6% rise year on year. Reus Airport reported 235,986 passengers, up 6.1% and marking its highest monthly total in history.

From January to July 2026, 1.15 million passengers (1,153,755) passed through Girona Airport. The first quarter of the year showed stronger performance, with 140,732 passengers, a 4.3% increase compared to the same period in 2025, according to Aena figures reported by Diari de Girona.
