Four Arrested in Connection with Armed Abduction
The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested four men in Tarragona this Thursday, 15 October 2026, in connection with a violent incident that began in Gavà on 7 September. The suspects, aged 18, 21, 43 and 51, are accused of the illegal detention and firearm attack on a motorcyclist who was shot, forced into a vehicle’s boot, and later abandoned in Sabadell with serious injuries. According to the Divisió d'Investigació Criminal (DIC) of the Metropolitan South Region, the investigation began after the victim was found injured near the Can Oriac swimming pool area in Sabadell. Initial reports indicate he had been shot in a non-vital area but sustained serious harm. The incident originated in the Ca n'Espinós housing estate in Gavà, where the man was first attacked.
Operation Led by Special Intervention Unit
The arrests were carried out in the Torreforta neighbourhood of Tarragona following a targeted police operation. Due to the suspected danger posed by the individuals, entries were conducted by the Mossos’ elite Grup Especial d'Intervenció (GEI), supported by the ARRO unit of Camp de Tarragona. Sources indicate the suspects, of Roma ethnicity, are linked to known clans in the Baix Llobregat area. They are believed to have fled to Tarragona to evade detection after the September attack. No further details on their identities or potential charges beyond illegal detention, firearm assault and grievous bodily harm have been officially confirmed.
Investigation Ongoing
The investigation remains open and is being handled by the Divisió d'Investigació Criminal.
Police have not ruled out a link to drug-related debts, which may have motivated the abduction and shooting. The case has been under active investigation since early September, with the Mossos coordinating forensic and intelligence efforts across multiple municipalities. The official press release from the Mossos d'Esquadra confirms the arrests but provides limited detail, consistent with ongoing criminal proceedings. Further information is expected as the judicial process advances.
