Twenty-six new officers have been deployed to the Mossos d'Esquadra police stations in Vic and Ripoll, bolstering local policing in the Osona and Ripollès regions. The recruits, part of the 33rd promotion of Catalonia's regional police force, completed their training at the Institut de Seguretat Pública de Catalunya (ISPC) and began duties in late July 2026.
Of the 26, 16 are now based at the Àrea Bàsica de Policia (ABP) d’Osona in Vic, 10 men and 6 women. They will spend a one-year probationary period reinforcing the Citizen Security Unit. Most are originally from Osona or Central Catalonia, a factor welcomed by the force for their familiarity with the local area.
The remaining 10 officers, five men and five women, have been assigned to the ABP del Ripollès in Ripoll. Their deployment marks a continued effort to strengthen police presence in rural and mountainous regions of Catalonia.
Training and Integration
According to reporting by El 9 Nou, the officers have finished formal instruction and are now undergoing practical integration into frontline duties. During their first year, they will rotate through various responsibilities including street patrols, community engagement, citizen service offices, and incident reporting.
The new officers are ready to take to the streets and serve their communities.
At the end of their probationary year, some will remain in their current assignments, while others may choose new postings across Catalonia, as outlined in official police integration procedures.
Regional Police Reinforcement
This deployment is part of a broader regional reinforcement. A separate report from Regió7 notes that 79 new officers from the same 33rd promotion were assigned across Central Catalonia, confirming a coordinated expansion of police capacity.
The Mossos d'Esquadra are Catalonia’s autonomous police force, operating under the authority of the Generalitat. Their recruitment and deployment are managed by the Department of Interior and Security.
