Vallsgenera, the Municipal Institute for Local Development in Valls, closed 2025 as its most successful year, with a general increase in activity that solidifies its role in boosting employment, training, and local economic growth. A total of 2,745 people used Vallsgenera's services last year, a 9.7% increase compared to 2024, confirming the organisation's sustained growth trend in recent years, according to officials.

The municipal body served nearly 2,800 people, reinforcing its position as a key resource for employment, training, and entrepreneurship in Valls and the Alt Camp region. The Labour Orientation Service saw the highest volume of activity within Vallsgenera, assisting 1,654 people during 2025, a 6.9% rise from the previous year. This service provides personalised support to job seekers or those looking to improve their work situation, offering guidance tailored to individual skills and labour market needs.

Growing Labour Support Programmes

Programmes for employment pathways also grew significantly, with 510 participants, marking a 32.4% increase from 2024. Vallsgenera also managed 248 job offers through its job board, strengthening its role in connecting companies with job seekers. These actions happen as the local job market improves, with 1,109 unemployed people, the lowest figure since 2008, officials said.

Training remains a main focus for Vallsgenera. In 2025, 279 people took part in occupational training programmes, double the number from the previous year. Vallsgenera again participated in initiatives subsidised by the Catalan Employment Service (SOC) through its Priority Area Offer Training (FOAP) programmes. These covered various professional fields, including the food industry, cleaning, educational leisure, warehousing, aquatic rescue, and administrative management.

Another training initiative, the Training and Insertion Programmes (PFI), is aimed at young people aged 16 to 21 without an ESO graduate certificate. These programmes are also subsidised by the SOC. For the 2024-25 academic year, Vallsgenera offered PFIs for kitchen assistants and healthcare centre assistants.

High Job Placement Rates

The results of these efforts are clear in the job and training placement rates. In 2025, 52% of participants in training programmes found employment or continued their education. For programmes aimed at young people, the placement rate reached 79%.

Vallsgenera's business and entrepreneurship service also saw notable activity. In 2025, 91 business initiatives received support from Vallsgenera, including newly created companies and business plans developed with the municipal body's advice. This service helps entrepreneurs through all stages of their business project, from defining the idea to launching it, and offers support with economic viability, funding, and business management.

Increased Municipal Funding

The growth in Vallsgenera's activity is directly supported by Valls City Council. The municipal contribution for 2026 is set to increase to €969,000, a 9.12% rise from the previous year. This increase in resources should help consolidate the organisation's growth and continue to strengthen the employment, training, and entrepreneurship programmes it runs in the city and the wider region.
