Valls City Council in Catalonia has officially joined the DO Tarragona Wine Route as a collaborating member, formalising an agreement to jointly promote tourism and economic development in the region. The city will now actively participate in boosting wine and cultural tourism across the area, according to officials.

The agreement was signed by Valls Mayor Dolors Farré and DO Tarragona President M. Rosa Blanch. Tourism Councillor Joan Ibarra and oenologist Elisa Ribé also attended the signing. This collaboration creates a stable framework for both institutions to increase Valls' visibility within the DO Tarragona area and support local economic and tourism growth. Both parties will work together to share information about the region's tourist, cultural, and gastronomic assets.

Promoting Local Tourism and Wine

Key actions include joint participation in promotional activities for the Wine Route and Valls' municipal tourism brand, "VisitaValls". This will involve advertising campaigns, informational materials, communication efforts, and developing shared wine tourism experiences. Examples of these experiences include tastings, guided tours, and themed events. The agreement also commits to promoting sustainable, quality tourism, highlighting the wine-growing landscape, and supporting local wineries and tourism operators.

The DO Tarragona Wine Route aims to promote wine tourism in the region by encouraging cooperation among public and private entities. The route allows visitors to explore a privileged wine-growing area, offering unique experiences that combine wine with gastronomy, sport, or culture, catering to various audiences.

Future Collaboration and Local Support

This agreement shows both institutions' commitment to working together for economic development and valuing their shared wine and cultural heritage. The pact confirms Valls City Council's dedication to tourism based on local identity, culture, and products, establishing the city as a key location within the DO Tarragona Wine Route.

Additionally, the City Council and DO Tarragona renewed a separate collaboration agreement. This agreement regulates the municipal subsidy provided to the DO Tarragona for maintaining its social headquarters, located on Carrer de la Cort in Valls.
