Valls, Tarragona, has extended the application period for urban property tax (IBI) discounts for large families until 31 August 2026. This year, applications can be submitted in person at the BASE, Income Management Office, or online through its portal.
Previously, the application window was limited to January. This extension is a result of an agreement between the Valls Town Council and the Tarragona Provincial Council, which manages tax collection. The discounts range from 30% to 90% of the IBI, depending on the cadastral value of the property and the family's income.
Eligibility and Required Documents
All large families holding a valid Generalitat de Catalunya title are eligible, provided they meet the requirements outlined in Fiscal Ordinance No. 1. Applicants must be the property owners, use the home as their main residence, and have all family members registered there.
Required documents include photocopies of the DNI, NIE, passport, or equivalent identification. Applicants also need to provide the 2025 IBI receipt with proof of payment and a valid large family title as of 31 December of the previous year, or all individual, legible, and unamended family cards. Once granted, the discount will apply to the current year's receipt, according to the fiscal ordinance.
