Valls, in the province of Tarragona, will host the 14th Festival of Abilities on 21 May, a day dedicated to raising awareness, inclusion, and visibility for people with functional diversity. The celebration will take place at El Pati, offering morning and afternoon activities open to all residents, with active participation from local social entities and associations. The event promotes equal opportunities for people with diverse abilities.

Morning activities will feature a varied programme, including theatre, dance, workshops, and awareness-raising experiences. The day starts at 9:30am with a theatrical performance by the Associació Porta Oberta, followed by a dance performance at 10am from the Associació Si Jo Puc, Tu També – EPILEP. Awareness workshops by the Fundació GINAC are scheduled for 10:30am.

At 11am, the Residència Santa Teresa will organise a wheelchair circuit. From 11:30am, simultaneous activities include the workshop “The garden of things that work for me” by Ocell de Foc and a pictogram workshop by the Associació Todos en Azul. The morning concludes at 12pm with a joint manifesto reading.

Afternoon Festivities and Information Stalls

The festival continues in the afternoon with a festive and participatory programme. At 6:30pm, DJ Adrià Abadia will perform a concert. This performance fully embodies the festival's motto, “I am capable,” and serves as an example of overcoming challenges and inclusion, according to organisers. His participation sends a clear message about the abilities, talent, and active involvement of all people in cultural and social life.

This festive space will also bring together various information stands from entities and services working in the field of functional diversity and social inclusion. Participating organisations include ONA Centre de Desenvolupament Infantil i Atenció Precoç, Centre residencial Grup Mimara, Residència i centre de dia Santa Teresa, Fundació GINAC, Associació Egueiro, Associació Porta Oberta, Associació Todos en Azul, Associació AFASIT, Associació Si Jo Puc, Tu També EPILEP, and Ocell de Foc Tarragonès i Alt Camp.

Further participants are Hesting Club Associació Egueiro, the Equality and Feminisms department of Valls City Council, and the Inclusive Community Action department of Valls City Council. The Festival of Abilities has become a meeting point, fostering coexistence and advocacy, highlighting the abilities of all individuals and promoting a more inclusive, accessible, and cohesive society.
