The USTEC education union has accused the PSC socialist party of instigating student protests at the Narcís Oller Institute in Valls. Students from the fourth year of ESO have been demonstrating in recent days, refusing to attend classes, to protest a decision by teachers to stop organising non-academic activities outside school hours.

In a statement, the union accused the PSC of "wanting to generate unrest within a campaign of disinformation and propaganda, promoted by the Generalitat government itself".

PSC Involvement Alleged

USTEC specifically pointed to the involvement of individuals linked to the PSC, such as Yeray Garcia, the first secretary of the Socialist Youth of Catalonia (JSC) in Valls. Garcia has spoken as a spokesperson for the demonstrators in the media, according to the union.

The union has demanded "immediate explanations" for these events from the Minister of Education and from PSC leadership to clarify their involvement in this protest.

USTEC also called on the government to "abandon these dynamics of disinformation and manipulation improper in a democracy" and to choose "the path of dialogue", reopening negotiations.
