A 79-year-old tractor driver died on Sunday morning in Els Omellons, Les Garrigues, after his vehicle with a trailer fell down an embankment. The incident occurred on the Camí de Rodants, according to the Catalan Traffic Service.
Mossos d'Esquadra officers received an alert about the accident at 9.10am. The tractor, for reasons currently under investigation, left the road and plunged down the slope. The driver, a resident of Els Omellons and the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, four Mossos d'Esquadra patrols, three Generalitat Fire Brigade units, and three Medical Emergency System (SEM) units were activated. SEM also provided psychological support. This fatality brings the provisional number of deaths on Catalan roads this year to 40, according to Traffic Service data.
