Tarragona’s El Serrallo neighbourhood marked the 20th anniversary of its Vibrieta figure on 31 May 2026, after a full restoration. The celebrations brought together supporters and members of the Colla Diables Voramar del Serrallo-Víbria de Tarragona.
The day began at 9am with workshops and crafts for children, including face painting, drum lessons and the chance to dress up as vibriers for the day. At 11am, children took part in a dance masterclass with the Focus Dance Center school.
The main event was the presentation of the restored Vibrieta. Young artist Quim Ortí carried out the restoration earlier this year, giving the figure a new appearance.
Berta Viñals, co-head of the Colla, said the group wanted to give the figure a new face and chose Quim Ortí’s workshop to help a young studio become better known. She said the result is a renewed Vibrieta with more lively and child-friendly colours. Viñals also said the figure has been part of many children’s lives over the past 20 years, with some now holding roles within the Colla.
The Vibrieta was then presented with one of its traditional dances, accompanied by drum rhythms. Neighbours, children and Colla members added firecrackers and decorations with their names to the figure.
The celebrations ended with a popular mussel feast, where attendees shared mussels and vermouth. The Vibrieta’s first appearance after the restoration is scheduled for 21 June at the Torreforta correfoc, and it will also feature in the Arribada de la Flama del Canigó in El Serrallo.
