The Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's regional police, are investigating the violent death of a woman in Barcelona's Sant Martí district, according to an official Generalitat notice.
Police received a report of an assault at a home at about 7.45pm on Tuesday and found the 34-year-old woman seriously injured, 3CatInfo reported. Emergency services treated her, but her death was later confirmed.
The Criminal Investigation Division, known as the DIC, has taken charge of the case to establish the circumstances. Police said they were treating it as a possible new gender-based killing and were searching for the alleged perpetrator.
