Manresa’s ERC, PSC and Impulsem governing coalition has called on the Generalitat, Catalonia’s regional government, for more help in responding to the city’s housing emergency.
The coalition said the situation was “not sustainable”, arguing that municipalities are responding to housing needs beyond their means. For Manresa households facing housing insecurity, the appeal concerns the public resources available to create affordable homes and provide emergency accommodation.

Previous funding and land commitments
The call follows measures already announced by the council to reinforce its municipal housing capacity. In March 2025, the Manresa City Council plenary approved a €515,000 budget modification for a future capital increase in Foment de la Rehabilitació Urbana de Manresa, known as Forum, the municipal urban rehabilitation company.
Mayor Marc Aloy said at the time that it was essential to create new affordable housing and secure funding for rehabilitation.

Housing councillor Jesús Alonso said in March 2025 that the council had informed the Generalitat that Manresa had land available for 806 homes.
