Up to 1,200 new Mossos d'Esquadra officers, Catalonia's regional police force, and local police officers completed the Basic Police Training Course at the Institut de Seguretat Pública de Catalunya (ISPC) in Mollet del Vallès on Friday 20 June 2025, according to Vallès Visió.
For residents in Mollet, Montornès and Montmeló, the immediate local outcome was eight new local police officers starting practical placements: five with Mollet Municipal Police, two in Montornès and one in Montmeló. Vallès Visió reported that the placements were due to begin on Monday 23 June.
38th cohort completes eight months of training
The diploma ceremony for the 38th cohort was chaired by Núria Parlon, the Catalan Minister for Home Affairs and Public Security, and Marta Roca, director of the ISPC. The course lasted eight months.
Vallès Visió reported that officers threw their caps into the air after the ceremony, marking the end of their classroom training.

Practical placements for Mossos and local police

The five Mollet officers were scheduled to complete one year of practical training with the municipality's police service, while the two officers assigned to Montornès and the one assigned to Montmeló were also entering practical placements.
