Tarragona's aspiring teachers continue to face challenges in the personal aptitude test (PAP), a mandatory requirement for those wishing to study Early Childhood and Primary Education degrees. Of the 794 students who took the exam in the Tarragona region on 11 April, only 57.56% achieved a pass mark, according to the Diari de Tarragona.
This figure shows little improvement over recent years. In 2024, the average pass rate was 57%, while in 2025 it stood at 58%. Despite the stagnation, Tarragona's results this year were slightly better than the overall Catalan average of 54.4%.
Consistent Results for Aspiring Educators
The PAP is a critical hurdle for students aiming to enter teaching programmes. The consistent pass rates suggest a persistent challenge for a significant portion of candidates in the region. Education officials have not yet commented on the implications of these figures or any potential changes to support aspiring teachers.
