Tarragona will host a packed programme for Saint George's Day (Sant Jordi) on Thursday, 23 April, with books, roses, and human towers taking centre stage across the city. The Rambla Nova is set to be the main hub for the celebration, drawing large crowds throughout the day.

A total of 178 stalls will be set up across Tarragona, with 150 of these located on the Rambla Nova. This year, the Rambla Nova will extend its designated area onto the road to accommodate more vendors. The remaining 28 stalls will be distributed in various neighbourhoods, ensuring the festivities reach all parts of the city.

The day's events will commence in the morning with live broadcasts from booksellers' stalls. Authors and editors from the Tarragona region will then present new literary works throughout the day at a dedicated stand on the Rambla. A new addition to this year's programme is a public read-aloud marathon scheduled for midday, designed to encourage participation and promote literary culture.

Traditional Events Conclude Day

The celebration will conclude with traditional events in the evening. At 19:00, Plaça Verdaguer will host a sardana dance featuring the Cobla Cossetània band. Following this, at 20:00, the human towers display (diada castellera) will begin on the Rambla Nova, involving the city's four human tower groups. This event will officially mark the start of the human towers season for Tarragona's groups, setting the stage for further performances and competitions in the coming months.
