Tarragona Port welcomed the Snow Flower, a new fruit transport vessel, on Wednesday afternoon. The ship made its inaugural call at the Reus dock, carrying over 6,000 tonnes of kiwis.
This arrival marks the first vessel from Cool Carriers' new Snow class and signals the beginning of the kiwi import campaign for the Tarragona area, according to port officials. The Snow Flower is described as a new generation ship, specialising in fruit transportation.
Boosting Fruit Imports
The port's ability to handle large volumes of fresh produce, such as this significant kiwi shipment, helps its role as a key logistics hub for agricultural goods in Catalonia. The arrival of new, specialised vessels like the Snow Flower can increase the efficiency and capacity of fruit imports, benefiting distributors and consumers across the region.
Looking ahead, the port expects further shipments as the kiwi import season progresses. This initial call by the Snow Flower sets a precedent for future operations involving Cool Carriers' new fleet.
