The Parc de la Ciutat in Tarragona now features fully upgraded LED lighting following a five-month renovation project completed in July 2025. The local council expanded the number of lighting points from 75 to 135, adding 60 new units and replacing all existing luminaires with energy-efficient LED technology.
The upgrade ensures previously unlit areas are now illuminated, improving public safety and extending usable hours for residents. According to the city’s environmental department, the project delivers significant energy savings while enhancing the park’s overall usability.
Subsidy and Project Costs
The works were carried out with a €156,248.04 subsidy from the Diputació de Tarragona under the Municipal Action Plan 2020–2023. The total cost of the project amounted to €270,772.97, including VAT.
Tarragona City Council plans to invest €2.25 million in lighting improvements across the city during 2025, focusing on public spaces and energy transition goals.
“The new lighting improves both the luminous quality of the space and energy efficiency, resulting in substantial savings,” said a council spokesperson for Energy Transition.
