Two men, aged 27 and 18, were arrested in Bonavista, Tarragona, in the early hours of Sunday, 3 May, after a visitor to the Feria de Abril was stabbed. The victim, injured outside the fairgrounds, was taken to Joan XXIII Hospital, according to Tarragona's Guàrdia Urbana.
The two suspects had been reported to police shortly before the stabbing for their involvement in an earlier fight. One of the arrested men also faces charges for participation in a tumultuous fight and possession of a bladed weapon.
The incident started around midnight when officers on security duty at the fairgrounds were alerted to a fight among a group of people in the attractions area. Police identified two individuals, who were later arrested, and reported them for public disorder. One of them was also reported for possession of narcotics. No dangerous objects were found on them at that time. A third person was also identified, and all three were escorted out of the venue.
Stabbing and Police Collision
Hours later, at 1:45am, a new alert reported another fight between two groups in the car park on Carrer Vint. Upon arrival, officers found one of the previously identified individuals with a wound, believed to be caused by a bladed weapon. The victim identified the two men he had argued with inside the fairgrounds as his attackers.
Three units from the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) attended the scene and transported the injured person to Joan XXIII Hospital. Meanwhile, a Guàrdia Urbana inspector located a Mossos d’Esquadra patrol identifying two people who, after fleeing the scene, had collided with a police vehicle. During a search, officers found a kitchen knife hidden in the abdominal area of one of the suspects. Both men resisted arrest and had to be restrained.
After collecting statements from the victim and several witnesses, the police proceeded with the arrest of the two suspects.
