The Sons del Món festival has closed its summer concert series at the Ciutadella de Roses in the Alt Empordà, drawing more than 30,000 attendees for the second year running, according to organisers. Although the exact attendance figure has not been released, the event has once again cemented its status as a major cultural and leisure destination on the Costa Brava.

Full houses were recorded for performances by Pablo Alborán, Joan Dausà, Sergio Dalma, and the joint concert of Lax'n'Busto and Gossos at the main stage. The festival’s Village area also saw its highest attendance in history, with over 6,500 visitors enjoying a diverse programme including acts such as Suu, Markos amb K, Tura d'Eufòria, Joan Masdeu, and the podcast live show 'Guarres!'. Themed parties like 'Bojos pels 90', 'Verano Mix' featuring Lorna of 'Papichulo' fame, and a tribute to the legendary Picasso nightclub in Roses added to the vibrant atmosphere.

Gastronomy was a highlight, with five gourmet experiences curated by chefs including Jordi Dalmau of Sumac restaurant and pastry chef Albert Lorenzo of La Postreria. Ten street food options and three themed bars, offering DO Empordà wines, Estrella Damm beer, and signature cocktails, were available throughout the site.

Concerts continue in Empordà wineries

The festival now shifts to a series of intimate concerts in local wineries across the Empordà region, running until 21 August. The programme includes:

  • Carlos Núñez at Celler Martín Faixó in Cadaqués
  • Manu Guix at Celler Massís de l'Albera in Garriguella (13 August)
  • Quim Masferrer at Celler La Vinyeta (15 August)
  • Roger Mas at Celler Vinyes dels Aspres (21 August)
The winery concerts offer a unique blend of music, landscape and local culture, deepening the festival’s roots in the region’s heritage.

These events aim to extend the festival’s reach beyond the summer crowds in Roses and highlight the cultural and viticultural richness of inland Empordà. The move follows two consecutive years of strong attendance, though this year’s numbers have not yet matched the previous edition’s record.

Festival organisers have confirmed that planning is already underway for the 20th edition, scheduled for 2027, with further autumn events to be announced.
