Modernism and local heritage take centre stage

The Fira de la Selva del Camp will take place from Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 October, transforming the old town into a hub of cultural, commercial and intergenerational activity. The event, organised by the Ajuntament de la Selva del Camp, will highlight Antoni Gaudí’s connections to the region, local entrepreneurship and community projects. The official opening ceremony will be held on Friday 23 October in the afternoon at the Castell auditorium. It will feature a keynote address titled 'Antoni Gaudí, architect of the Camp de Tarragona', delivered by Armand Puig i Tàrrech, a local priest, biblical scholar and noted biographer of the modernist architect. He will be joined by fellow local Tate Cabré i Massot, a journalist and communication expert, who will speak about Selva del Camp residents who had personal and professional ties to Gaudí.

New spaces and expanded offerings

This year’s fair introduces changes to the layout of activities. A new recreational zone with workshops, traditional games and wooden attractions will debut at the Ponts area. The Plaça de les Pletes will host a concentrated gastronomic offering, featuring restaurants, wineries and local producers from the region. The Carrer Major will remain the commercial spine of the fair, with stalls showcasing traditional crafts. The Plaça Major will bring together artisanal projects and local cooperatives. Meanwhile, the cemetery car park will host food trucks and additional attractions.

The fair is our window to the wider region, where we showcase our community’s vitality.

Professional and cultural programming

The Espai Professional returns with events focused on entrepreneurship and local industrial history. Organised by the local marketing agency Gala Stories, it will begin on Thursday 22 October with a screening of the documentary 'Els Girona, la gran burgesia catalana del segle XIX', a nod to a prominent 19th-century family with roots in the town. Following the screening, a panel discussion titled 'From loom to algorithm' will feature economic historian Lluïsa Pla Toldrà and writer-journalist Vidal Vidal Culleré. An exhibition, 'Els Girona, the revolution born in La Selva del Camp', will also open. On Saturday 24 October, the upper floor of the Castell will host a talk called 'The machine has no craft', featuring three local business initiatives. The session will conclude with a networking workshop and a live musical performance on the terrace. Cultural highlights include the exhibition 'Fashion to Understand History' by Ana de la Cruz, on display at the Santa Llúcia auditorium. There will also be a showcase of work related to the restoration of modernist architectural elements.

Family and community events

Traditional events remain central to the programme. A ceremonial walk will open the weekend on Saturday morning. On Sunday afternoon, the town will welcome newborns and new residents in a special civic ceremony. Children’s entertainment includes the family show 'Pianopupp' by Xala Espectacles, which will tour parts of the fairgrounds. Musical performances will feature local groups from the municipal music school, including the Escola de Música Municipal, Aula Vilalta and Batuka, as well as regional acts such as 'Tarannà', 'The Soulful Trio', 'Oscar Wolf & Washboard Quico' and the itinerant theatre company 'LeMême'. Residents and visitors can consult the full programme on the Ajuntament de la Selva del Camp's official website.
