Around 20 people were evacuated from a hostel in Roses, Girona, on Friday morning after a fire broke out. Three individuals received medical attention for smoke inhalation, though none required hospitalisation, according to emergency services.
The fire started on the second floor of the establishment, located on Carrer de Sant Pere. Two people were initially confined within the building, officials from the Generalitat Fire Service reported.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and then ventilated the building to clear smoke. The rapid response helped prevent more serious injuries.
Emergency Response
Two fire crews attended the scene. They were joined by several units from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) and the Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's police force. Their combined efforts ensured the safe evacuation of guests and the swift control of the blaze.
Authorities have not yet released details on the cause of the fire. An investigation is expected to follow to determine how the incident began and to assess any structural damage to the hostel.
