In Reus, Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a third man suspected of involvement in the violent death of a man at a farmhouse in the Baix Camp capital. Police said the 33-year-old was located on Thursday night in the metropolitan area of Llobregat.
The investigation remains under a secrecy order and is being led by the Criminal Investigation Division, known as the DIC. According to police enquiries, the case appears to stem from a dispute over the occupation and payment of the property where the incident took place.
Police said one of the arrested men allegedly asked others for help to intimidate the victim and try to force him out of the farmhouse. The incident was reported on Saturday at around 2pm, when officers received notice of a suspected fight inside the property.
When officers arrived, they found the body of a man showing signs of violence. Initial investigations indicated that the victim had been tied at the hands and feet and had tried to defend himself during the attack.
Two other men, aged 46 and 79, were found at the property and tried to flee when police arrived. They were arrested at the scene and later a court ordered their provisional imprisonment without bail on murder charges. One of those previously detained also had injuries and cuts consistent with a fight.
Mossos had been searching for the third suspect since the start of the investigation. The case remains open while police continue to gather evidence. For more local reporting, see our news coverage.
