Catalan police in Cervera, Lleida, arrested a 23-year-old man on Monday as a suspected repeat offender in drug trafficking. The individual, who had previous convictions for public health offences related to drugs, was detained following a roadside stop.

The arrest took place on Monday morning during a checkpoint on the L-303 road in Plans de Sió. Officers stopped a vehicle at around 13:00 and immediately noticed the driver's clear nervousness. The man told police he was in a hurry and needed to continue his journey.

Police identified the driver and confirmed his recent history of drug-related offences. As he was driving a rental vehicle, officers suspected he might be transporting illegal substances. A search of the driver found nothing, however, a check of the vehicle revealed the rear seat was slightly dislodged.

Drugs Discovered in Hidden Compartment

Lifting the seat platform, officers found a plastic-wrapped package containing small bags of cocaine and a separate package of hashish. In the boot, police also discovered a licence plate that did not belong to the vehicle.

The seized substances included 200 grams of cocaine and 500 grams of hashish, with an estimated street value exceeding €15,000, according to officials. The arrested man was brought before the instructing court on duty in Cervera.
