The Brazilian company Raft Embalagens has chosen Valls, in the Tarragona region, for its first industrial base in Europe, investing over €12 million in a new production plant. This decision is part of the company's international expansion strategy, according to Valls officials.
Assembly work for the new facility is set to start in June, with industrial operations expected to begin in September. The investment was confirmed during a meeting between Valls Mayor Dolors Farré and Xavier Guinovart Castán, the company's representative in Catalonia. During the meeting, Raft Embalagens reaffirmed its commitment to the project and outlined the timeline for the plant's launch.
Job Creation and European Expansion
Raft Embalagens will occupy a 6,500 square metre warehouse in the Valls industrial park. The project is expected to create 15 jobs in its initial phase, with plans to increase the workforce to 60 people within approximately three years. This growth aligns with the company's strategy to strengthen its presence in the European market.
Raft Embalagens, headquartered in Brazil, specialises in industrial packaging solutions. With over 40 years of experience in its home country, the company focuses on developing products that ensure protection, transport, and logistical optimisation for goods across various sectors. The company has a clear commitment to new ideas and adapting to specific client needs, offering custom solutions and incorporating efficiency, advanced techniques, and sustainability into its processes. This approach has helped it grow and expand into new international markets.
Strategic Location and Local Support
The Valls location is a key part of Raft Embalagens' strategy to expand beyond the Latin American market and establish a strong presence in Europe. Valls' strategic road connections and proximity to major logistical infrastructure were important factors in the company's decision. This new industrial presence helps to strengthen Valls' industrial base and diversify the municipality's economic activity. The addition of an industrial packaging company adds value to a productive environment that already includes a wide range of industries.
During the meeting, the Valls City Council agreed that the Municipal Institute for Local Development, Vallsgenera, would support the company's implementation process. This support includes collaboration in the selection and training of personnel for the new plant.
